My name is Izabela, but most people call me Izzy.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that I wanted to help people in some capacity. I have always felt a deep sense of social justice and empathy for others.
I was born in Poland and studied at a prestigious university to become a teacher.
However, after a year, at the age of 19 or 20, I realised that this was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Prompted by my grandmother, I went to England for a few weeks to work and earn some money towards my further studies. Those few weeks turned into over 20 years when I met my future husband!
We have always lived in various villages around Great Yarmouth. I soon found myself working in care homes for the elderly and within the community as a support worker. In 2011, I qualified as a Social Worker and continued working in that capacity until 2021.
Since Covid, my life has changed quite dramatically, as I took a career break in order to home educate my two children. I have great respect for teachers; however, school does not suit every child, and some children thrive better in a home environment. I am grateful for the wonderful home-educating community here in Norfolk, where there is so much going on in terms of activities and opportunities to meet others.
I am also a partner with Utility Warehouse, a British company trusted by over a million customers. Partnering with UW aligns with my values of helping others, and I have experienced first-hand how beneficial the company is, having been a customer for two years before joining as a partner.
I feel that, during the current cost-of-living crisis, helping someone reduce the amount they pay for essential services they already use can make a real positive difference in their life.
Over the past year, I have also become involved in various networking groups. I really enjoy networking, bringing people together, and seeing where I can help and add value.
